Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Institutional Effectiveness, this Research and Planning Analyst position is focused on issues of equity, social justice, diversity, and inclusion. Specifically, they will be responsible for helping the college identify equity and achievement gaps and working with faculty, managers, and staff to design interventions and programming that will assist the college in fulfilling our Mission, Vision, and Values.



EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  1. Identify appropriate District and/or external sources of data for each research project and retrieve the data in appropriate form using suitable tools. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of District and external data resources and research and statistical tools and techniques.
  2. Select, adapt, and apply appropriate quantitative and qualitative research design and statistical tools and techniques to all areas of study, which include but are not limited to matriculation, prerequisites, assessment, staffing patterns, program evaluation, program costs, curriculum, grant applications and evaluation, accreditation, student outcomes and follow-up, student and staff characteristics, planning data integrity, and state and federal and grant-related reporting requirements.
  3. Organizes and presents research-based information, analysis, and interpretation clearly and effectively in narrative, tabular, graphical, and oral modes. Produce data for periodic reports as required.
  4. Carries out data collection, coding, and input functions using appropriate tools. Designs and produces effective forms and surveys and conduct structured interviews.
  5. Conducts audits of District centralized data files; bring errors to the attention of appropriate offices on campus.
  6. In accord with established research guidelines, responds to research requests and report submission requirements of grant funded programs.
  7. Provides technical and analytical support to offices, divisions, committees, faculty, staff, and administration in research and program evaluation-related activities.
  8. Represents the Office of Institutional Effectiveness on District committees and the college at professional conferences.
  9. Retrieves student academic lists using SQL software from data warehouse.
  10. At the request of a supervisor, performs a variety of unscheduled duties normally and traditionally performed by a Research Planning Analyst.





MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job.
  1. Bachelor's degree in a field involving social science, computer information systems, computer science, higher education or similar research, with coursework in tests and measurements, statistics, and/or research design/methods.
  2. One year experience conducting research, analyzing data, and presenting findings.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience with statistical software (SPSS), SQL or other coding languages, and data visualization software products such as Tableau.
  2. Working knowledge of Windows applications, including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Publisher.
  3. Familiarity with Student Information Systems (SIS) particularly Ellucian/Banner.
  4. Graduate degree(s) reflecting coursework and/or methodology in research and evaluation as well as experience in conducting research project(s).
