Position Summary: The Office Strategy, Analytics and Research (StAR) is seeking a Research Project Manager to play an essential role in facilitating college-wide data-informed decision making. The Research Project Manager will be primarily responsible for capturing data from the College's Business Intelligence (BI) or the enterprise system, creating reports and visualizations using SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence (WebI) or other appropriate tools. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in various data extraction, data reporting, and data visualization approaches. They will also be expected to extend these approaches to the overall development of institutional effectiveness and efficiency in querying, analyzing, and presenting institutional data in an inviting way to a broad audience. Specific activities involve developing descriptive statistical reports related to enrollment, student success and other areas of Pima Community College's operations, in support of the mission of the College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support StAR's reporting efforts by assisting with data requests related to BI system which includes designing and implementing interactive approaches to share and display data
Assist in expansion of BI which include extensive verification and process building, while making sure developing processes to capture required data for routine reporting to both the PCC community and external entities
Proposing and carrying out research applied to institutional research data
Conducting research and analyzing data to support College goals
Providing input and serving as a resource for the development and dissemination of results in response to research project requests
Responding to inquiries from College departments, students, and the public related to enrollment statistics, graduation rates, and related institutional information
Using inferential and descriptive statistical techniques to analyze and report to support institutional effectiveness, program and services review
Using written and oral skills to present data to administrators, standing committees, and other appropriate College employees
Design and develop ad hoc processes to provide timely responses to requests for data from various units
Manage storage, maintenance, and updates of StAR's datasets in sustainable and efficient ways
Document data processes and systems
Assist preparing federal and state mandated reports
Job Requirements:
Master's degree in a related field (Information technology, computer science, management information systems, or similar technical discipline) and
Three progressively responsible research experience of progressively responsible research experience
or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Preferred:
Doctoral degree
Research experience
Experience with SAP Web Intelligence
Experience with SQL, R, Python, MS-Access or other statistical software/programming languages
Experience in a higher-education setting developing reports that utilize student data preferred
Experience with enterprise reporting platforms (e.g., Banner) preferred
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
High level of familiarity with data analysis methods, including research principles, design and statistical analysis principles including inferential and descriptive statistics
Experience working with large, complex relational databases using SQL, R, Python, MS-Access or other statistical software/programming languages
Systematic and thoughtful approach to programming
Experience working with Web Intelligence, Crystal, Power BI
Experience managing databases with a strong emphasis on data integrity, data quality, and designing efficient processes and mechanisms to store and retrieve data for effective reporting
Ability to analyze research results and making appropriate recommendations, present complex information, interpreting data and identifying trends
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing, including the development of reports and statistical summaries for diverse audiences
Ability to be flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic and very fast paced work environment which requires staff to handle multiple projects on tight timelines
Ability to think outside-the-box to suggest tools and approaches that effectively address problems
