Salary

The salary is competitive and is negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position with an attractive benefits package which includes but is not limited to: a vacation accrual rate of 16 hours per month; 12+ paid holidays; excellent choice of medical, dental and vision insurance, long term disability coverage, life insurance; and retirement benefits.
Administrator II Salary Range: $3,726 to $12,767 per month

Overview

This position manages the development and internal approval of research and special project proposals and contracts for submission to federal, state and private funding sources. Individuals in this position provide expert advice on agency, institutional and governmental proposal compliance to university faculty and staff Principal Investigators as assigned.
Position Summary

Duties include managing the planning and development of grant or contract-supported projects and programs; providing guidance in the review and interpretation of opportunity announcement documents; searching for appropriate funding sources; collaborating in the development of budgets and budget narratives sufficient to support project or program activities and consistent with applicable requirements; working cooperatively with supervisors, Fresno State Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) personnel, various university staff and faculty, and funding agencies; preparing and submitting timely routing documentation for internal proposal submission approvals; submitting proposals; drafting, writing and/or editing proposal documents; conducting workshops for faculty; travelling as needed to participate in professional development and to represent ORSP, and related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, Ability and Knowledge:
Graduate degree from a regionally-accredited university or college OR bachelor's degree combined with 3 years of successful experience working actively in a pre-award setting.
Two years of professional experience at a CSU campus or comparable university with engineering and/or agricultural colleges or departments.
Experience working as a team member to develop successful grant and contract proposals (federal, state, private).
Evidence of leadership skills.
Evidence of well-developed technical writing and editing skills (Writing samples required of finalists).
Well-developed speaking and communication skills.
Ability to facilitate the development of grant proposals in assigned areas.
General familiarity with federal, state and other funding sources for research and special projects in assigned areas.
Strong initiative, exemplary work habits, and ability to work well in a team setting.
Ability to interact cooperatively with diverse groups and individuals to encourage proposal development.
Well-developed computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, pdf document management systems, use of mobile devices.
Ability and willingness to travel overnight as needed to conduct university business.
Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Graduate degree in an engineering or agricultural field OR bachelor's degree with a CRA (Certified Research Administrator) Certification.
Five or more years of professional experience at a CSU University campus, or comparable public university, with an engineering and/or agricultural college or departments.
Project experience on federal, state, or private grants/contracts in engineering or agricultural areas.
Knowledge of agricultural, environmental, economic, and related issues related to California's Central Valley.
Significant work experience on projects supported by federal, state, or private grants or contracts.
First hand, professional experience and understanding of project compliance issues in state, federal, and private projects.
Experience with industry, state, and local contracts.
Availability to assume responsibilities on or before October 1, 2018.
